Liora Spilk Bialostozky
Liora Spilk was born and raised in Mexico City. She began her career as a film editor while studying Communications Sciences at UNAM. In 2016, she began editing socially charged documentaries, including an episode of the series "1994" and the short film "The busty doll" (Ariel Award for Best Documentary Short 2018). She continued her career editing of fiction and documentary films. Later, she invited her as a partner in the editorial company Cortes Finos. Within this framework, she has worked with internationally recognized directors, including Luciana Kaplan, Alonso Ruizpalacios, Fernando Frías, and Manolo Caro.
Alongside her career as an editor, Liora spent 10 years filming her first film as a director: "Pedro," a documentary about the famous artist Pedro Friedeberg, known for creating the infamous “hand chair“. The film toured national and international festivals, had a mixed theatrical and Netflix release, and was nominated for Best First Feature at the 2023 Ariel Awards. That same year, she directed and wrote an episode of the true crime series "Archivo Negro." In 2024, she directed and wrote the series "Solo para mujeres," about the famous 2000s show of the same name. She is currently developing her next film, "Yo soy mi casa," about the poet Pita Amor, while continuing her work as an editor. by nature.
